I was raised in New England and graduated from RISD in 1986.

Throughout my years of painting I have mostly turned to landscape and nature to express feeling I am unable to put to words. I love how pigment mixed with oil, pastels or charcoal softly blended can convey so much emotion. I often try to create meditative spaces which evoke a sense of quiet simplicity and calm reflection. I am deeply influenced by the 19th century Romantics and their focus on light, solitude, nature, melancholy and decay. As well, inspiration from early Victorian photography is making its way into my work. Mother and child, princesses, children, some mythology and storytelling all find a place as I continue my painting practice. I strive to express my vision with the hope of expressing humanity with the beauty and terror of life.
